Apache Point Observatory
A private observatory consisting of the Astrophysical Research Consortium's 3.5-meter telescope, the Sloan Digital Sky Survey 2.5-m telescope, and New Mexico State University's 1.0-m telescope.
Visitation:
Located in the Sacramento Mountains in the Lincoln National Forest. From El Paso, take hwy 54 north to hwy 82 in Alamogordo, then hwy 82 east to Cloudcroft. Then turn right onto hwy 130 and then turn right onto hwy 6563. 16 miles to observatory. Public invited to stroll the grounds.
