Baudette International Bridge, Minnesota

The bridge over the Rainy River is the westernmost of the 13 vehicle bridges along the watery boundary between the USA and Canada, extending 1,300 miles east from here, through the Great Lakes, to the St. Lawrence River in New York. This is a small local crossing, with a Port of Entry on either side. In the summer it is heavily used by fishermen, as Baudette is known as the Walleye Capital of the World. The bridge was built in 1959, by the Dominion Bridge Company out of Winnipeg, and is a steel truss bridge with a steel deck, which helps prevent icing in these cold winter places.
