Black Rock Beach Resort Site, Utah

The beach at Black Rock, on the southern end of the Great Salt Lake, was a popular spot from as early as the 1850s. Over the years, numerous resorts were built along this stretch of coast, from Lake Point to Saltair. Fluctuating lake levels, fires, bad odors from the exposed lake bottom, pollution, competition, and changing styles and customs eventually closed them all down.
