Cameron (formerly Cooper Cameron) is a flow control equipment and systems company, active in supplying drilling and pipeline operations on land and at sea. Cameron is a major supplier of pipe and valve assemblies for offshore and sea floor environments, generating over $8 billion in revenues (2014), with over 27,000 employees worldwide (2014). Like many of the oil engineering companies based in Houston, approximately 2/3 of its business originates from outside the United States. Cameron played a role in the 2010 Deepwater Horizon disaster, as the manufactor of the blow-out preventor which failed to completely seal the well head, resulting in the worst oil spill in U.S. history. In 2011, Cameron settled for $250 million, in a suit brought by BP.
