Canon City Correctional Complex
A group of several prisons including the "Supermax," a state-of-the art $223 million Federal Prison, which is known as "the Alcatraz of the Rockies." It's perhaps the flashiest of the nine-state and four federal prisons located in Fremont County, Colorado, a county in which more than 6,000 members of the population (about 16%) are incarcerated.
Visitation:
The prisons are at several locations in Fremont County centered around Canon City (US Highway 50) and Florence (State Highway 115). Information is also available at the Museum of Colorado Prisons in Canon City.
