Cecil Field, Florida

In 2010 Cecil Airport became the eighth FAA-licensed commercial spaceport in the country, and is being developed for use as a horizontal take-off and landing space launching site. The facility is a former Naval Air Station which closed in 1999, with most of its activity transferred to the Naval Air Station at Jacksonville. Cecil Airport also supports military and commercial cargo traffic, and is a Coast Guard helicopter base.
