This Air Force Base covers 3,772 acres, and is one of three major airlift installations on the East Coast, flying military personnel and equipment to destinations all over the world using C-17s and other large cargo aircraft. Home to over 6,000 military and civilian personnel. It has an auxiliary airfield, the 1,400-acre North Auxiliary Air Field installation, located 85 miles north of the base, that is used for practice dropping.
