Fort Drum, New York

A 107,265-acre base in upstate New York, home of light infantry mountain units, and used in the training of almost 80,000 troops a year. From 1986 to 1992, $1.3 billion in improvements were performed on the base, including new housing units and roads, to accomodate increased usage. The main post and cantonment area are at the south end of the base, near the base's airport, Wheeler-Sack Airfield. The upper central part of the base is used as an impact area.
