Georgia Guidestones, Georgia

Erected in 1980, this granite monument on a hill in Georgia was conceived and funded by a group from outside the state who sought "the Age of Reason," and that wished to remain anonymous, forever. The monument lists the group's principles for humanity, in several languages, carved in the up-ended granite slabs. Among these are to maintain humanity's population below 500 million; unite humanity with one new language; prize truth, beauty and love; and not be a cancer on the earth. The author is credited as "R.C. Christian (A pseudonym)". Line of sight guide holes indicate annual travel of the sun (as well as lining up with a geodesic dome house in the distance).
