Golden Peanut Ashburn Plant, Georgia

The state of Georgia grows nearly half of America’s peanuts, mostly in the form of runner peanuts, which are used for peanut butter, oil, and fillings for candy bars and other processed foods. After curing, grading, and shelling, peanuts are unloaded and stored in refrigerated warehouses until they are needed for further processing and sale. The Golden Peanut facility in Ashburn is one of the larger peanut production sites in the state. Golden sells the processed peanuts to Jif, Peter Pan, and M&M Mars. They can store up to 20 million pounds of shelled peanuts in their cold storage at one time and they shell between 110,000 and 130,000 tons of peanuts each year.
