International UFO Museum, New Mexico

Located inside the old movie theater on Main Street, the main attraction in Roswell is the 8,000-square-foot UFO museum, with library, theater, private research rooms, and gift shop. The building is full of articles, dioramas, paintings, and other displays describing the history of space aliens on Earth. Roswell is the nearest town to a few alleged alien craft crash sites, and the local Air Force Base was involved in the clean up of at least one of the crashes, like the famous 1947 Roswell Incident. Since the museum opened in 1991, the town has been evolving into a major alien-themed tourist attraction. Many of the stores in town have adopted alien-themed signage, and there are several alien gift shops in town.
