Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana

Malmstrom is one of three bases in the nation that support the 450 intercontinental ballistic missiles silos still operational in the USA. More than 3,000 people work at Malmstrom, including the crews deployed at the underground launch control facilities in the missile fields.  A total of 150 unmanned silos, activated by 15 Missile Alert Facilities, are scattered over thousands of square miles around Malmstom. The other two bases that have this function are Minot AFB in North Dakota, and Warren AFB in Wyoming, each of which are home base for another 150 missile sites each.
