Mount Weather Federal Bunker, Virginia

Managed by FEMA, this is one of the largest underground facilities in the nation, on par with the Pentagon’s Raven Rock site. Constructed in the 1950s by and for the federal government. Has facilities to support a few hundred people on self-contained status for months, including 500,000 gallons of water storage, a waste-water treatment plant, hospital, a diesel-powered electricity plant, and information and communications equipment. This is the hub for Federal Relocation Centers, a network of dozens of sites in the Federal Arc (300 miles around DC), and part of the Continuity of Government plan.
