NAP of the Americas, Florida

One of the most important internet buildings in the country is a large warehouse structure in Miami, at 50 NE 9th Street, built in 2000 by Global Crossing. Known as the Network Access Point (NAP) of the Americas, the building is a major connection point with Latin America, directing the majority of South American, Central American, and Caribbean internet traffic to over 148 countries worldwide. It is connected to a plethora of land and undersea fiber cables, and has three large telemetry domes on its roof. It is owned and operated by Verizon Terremark. Other historically important downtown Miami internet sites include the Digital Realty data center at 36 NE 2nd Street, and CoreSite’s data center at 2115 NW 22nd Street.
