Ore-Ida Ontario Potato Plant, Oregon

Located on the Idaho border, this is the primary production facility for Ore-Ida potato-based frozen foods, a division of the H. J. Heinz Company. Ore-Ida is best known for its Tater-Tots, a potato format the company invented in 1953 to use scraps left over from French fry processing; today, the plant produces more than 600,000,000 pounds of potato in 75 different formats each year. The company ships its finished frozen products on temperature-controlled railcars to regional distribution centers nationwide.
