Squam Lakes Natural Science Center, New Hampshire

Has scenic trails and natural history displays, and also contains an interesting exhibit about one of its founders, Bradford Washburn. Washburn was a pioneering cartographer, adventurer, and photographer who founded and directed the Boston Museum of Science. The small installation displays some of his maps and photographs, and discusses some of the techniques of surveying and cartography. He had a summer home on nearby Squam Lake, which he also mapped intensively and accurately.
