Programs where the emphasis is on characterizing and understanding an area, as opposed to a singular phenomena or theme, are considered to be Regional Programs. These include guidebooks, tours, and exhibitions that follow a linear sampling path, such as a roadway, or focus on an area that is contained within a boundary, such as a state or county line, or some other defining perimeter.
