11406 Venice is a common kind of 1950s residence in Los Angeles, a single-story, stucco-sided, hipped-roof home with just a few topical design elements (in this case clapboard siding on the upper half of the façade), around 20 feet wide and 60 feet long on a 25 by 100-foot lot. Some were built as single-family units, but most in this area have two apartments, with the one in the back accessed down a path on one side. Also, typically, at the back is either a yard or a separate garage structure, accessed from an alley. There are ten similar structures on this block alone that are still remaining. Most resemble their original form, as this one does, with a few updated features like the door, and a more maintenance-friendly uniform paint color.
