The Center for Land Use Interpretation seeks applicants for its Summer 2023 Getty Marrow CLUI Digital Collections Internship. The intern will work 40 hours a week for a consecutive ten-week period in June–August 2023. Compensation is $6,800. The internship is a hybrid position, with some remote work and some onsite work at the CLUI's main office and exhibit space in Culver City, California.

Description

The Center for Land Use Interpretation's Getty Marrow Digital Collections Intern will work with CLUI staff to digitize, process, and research sites represented in the CLUI’s programs and archives, which include the Morgan Cowles Archive and Coast Realty Archive.

The CLUI seeks applicants with a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, some experience with digital photography and the Adobe Creative Suite (especially Lightroom and Photoshop), and an interest in the built landscape, architecture, photography, and/or Los Angeles history.

Eligibility 

This internship is part of the Getty Marrow Undergraduate Internship Program. Per the program requirements, Getty Marrow Undergraduate Interns must:

  • Be of a group underrepresented in museums and visual arts organizations, including, but not limited to, individuals of African American, Asian, Latino/Hispanic, Native American, or Pacific Islander descent.

  • Be currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate in either a bachelor’s degree program or an associate’s degree program. Students must have completed at least one semester or two quarters of college by June 2023. Students who graduated the semester or quarter immediately before the internship begins are also eligible. (Students who are enrolled in a second BA or BS program are not eligible.)

  • Reside or attend college in LA County; and

  • Be a United States citizen or permanent resident (non-citizen authorized to live and work in the United States on a permanent basis; also known as a "green card" holder). Students with DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival) status valid through the internship period are also eligible.
