The Lay of the Land

The Center for Land Use Interpretation Newsletter
Many pumped storage projects have a Francis-type reversible pump/turbine impeller on display on the grounds outside the plant, such as this one at Muddy Run in Pennsylvania. One of these is installed on each of the generating units inside the plant, and enables it to produce electricity rotating in one direction, and to pump water when run in the other direction.
