The Center’s Desert Research Station (DRS) is a research and display facility located in the Mojave Desert, near the town of Hinkley, California. The DRS supports interpretive programs about the land uses of this remarkable hinterland of the Los Angeles region. 

The DRS is open only during scheduled programs.

REMOTE SENSING: EXPLORATIONS INTO THE ART OF DETECTION
Part Two: Remote Sensing in the Field

Remote Sensing: Explorations Into the Art of Detection explores the art and science of remote sensing in literal and expressive ways, and is in two parts, based out of two locations: one in urban Los Angeles, and the other in the Mojave desert. Part two of the program explores remote sensing phenomenology in the field, through projects based out of the Desert Research Station, including by principal investigators Julia Christensen, Rob Ray, the Space Song Foundation, and Deborah Stratman and Steve Badgett.
