Project Bruin is located in Oxnard and is expected to open in the fall of 2021. It is one of only two major Amazon fulfillment and sort operations in the Southland that is located outside of the Inland Empire. Like the even more remote Project Cherry in Beaumont, the building is a four-story fulfillment center for small sortable items. It is 857,000 square feet in size. Though heavily automated, it is expected to employ around 1,000 people. It is being built on former strawberry fields, known as Sakioka Farms, at the north end of an older industrial park that includes the Southland’s largest toilet paper plant, owned by Procter & Gamble.
