The Comsat facility in Clarksburg, Maryland, is the satellite earth station at the technical campus of the Communications Satellite Company (Comsat). Comsat started as a US government subsidized satellite company in the 1960s, to stimulate growth in the industry, which it did. Years ago the company was acquired by Lockheed, and its historic campus is in transition, though its earth stations remain in use by ViaSat and Intelsat.
