Alcoa East Rooseveltown Aluminum Plant, New York

Alcoa East was an aluminum plant next to the river at Rooseveltown. It was part of an industrial area created to consume power produced by the St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Power Project, and to provide jobs for this remote region of New York, north of the Adirondacks. The plant was closed in 2015. On the east side of the bridge approach road was another big industrial plant, an automotive parts plant owned by General Motors, which was closed in 2008.
