Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland

Andrews serves primarily as a VIP airport, flying heads of state into and out of the Washington DC area, using helicopters, large jetliners, and everything in between, as overseen by the 89th Airlift Wing ("The President's Wing"). It is home to Air Force One, the president's personal air shuttle. The 4,320-acre base also serves as the headquarters for the 11th Wing ("The Chief's Own"), the 79th Medical Wing, and the 844th Communications Group, as well as a number of tenant units. In 2009, Andrews Air Force Base merged with Naval Air Facility Washington, to form Joint Base Andrews Naval Air Facility Washington, or Joint Base Andrews.
