Avon Park Air Force Range, Florida

The Avon Park Air Force Range in Florida covers over 106,000 acres, likely making it the largest dedicated air-to-ground bombing range east of the Mississippi. It is operated by MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, 70 miles west, which maintains a paved auxiliary airfield at the site, and it is also associated with Moody Air Force Base in Georgia. There are two primary target areas, each with a simulated airfield, a large circular target, and many convoy, revetment, aircraft targets and vehicle targets.
