Bath Iron Works, Maine

Bath Iron Works is a dense industrial shipyard complex covering around 60 acres on the Kennebec River, and is one of the largest private employers in the state of Maine. The yard has been producing vessels for the Navy for over 100 years. Some of their products include AEGIS-class guided missile destroyers, DDG 1000 "stealth" multi-mission destroyers, and DDG 51 Class Flight I, II, and III destroyers. Facilities at the yard include multiple shipways, wharves, level-luffing cranes (including ones which can lift as much as 300 tons), a 750-foot drydock, structural assembly buildings (including the 77,000 square-foot Ultrahall), and outdoor fabrication areas. Additional BIW facilities in Maine include the Harding Plant in West Brunswick, and a warehouse and automated manufacturing facility in East Brunswick. Bath Iron Works is owned by one of the nation's largest defense contractors, General Dynamics.
