BMW Spartanburg Plant, South Carolina
BMW’s plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, opened in 1994, is the company’s only assembly plant in the USA. With around 4 million square feet of space and the capacity to produce nearly half a million cars per year, it is one of the largest car plants in the nation. The company says their overall campus there employs 11,000 people in 7 million square feet, as it has manufacturing plants and other operations, in addition to assembly.
