Boardman Bombing Range, Oregon

Boardman is a target range south of the Columbia River town of Boardman, in eastern Oregon. Established in WWII as the Arlington Bombing Range, the original restricted area was in the shape of a square, 12 miles on each side. By 1960, use of the facility changed, with the western half converted to other uses, including agriculture, a power plant, and an airfield used by Boeing as a test facility. The eastern half still has targets on it, and is used primarily by the Navy, flying out of the naval station at Whidbey Island, Washington.
