Braidwood Nuclear Power Plant, Illinois
The Braidwood Nuclear Power Plant is located in Braceville, Illinois, adjacent to Braidwood Lake, a six square-mile lake built to supply it with its cooling water. It is home to two pressurized water reactors, and is owned and operated by the Exelon Corporation. Unit 1 has an output capacity of around 1,270MW, while Unit 2 has an output capacity of around 1,121MW. Unit 1's operating license was issued in 1987, while Unit 2's operating license was issued in 1988.
