Brunswick Nuclear Power Plant, North Carolina

Brunswick Nuclear Power Plant (also known as Brunswick Steam Electric Plant), is located on a 1,200-acre site just west of the Cape Fear River, from which its cooling water is drawn via a two and a half mile-long intake canal. Once heated, the outflow is discharged into the Atlantic Ocean, via a five and a half mile-long discharge canal. The plant is home to two boiling water reactors. Unit 1 has an output capacity of 938MW, while Unit 2 has an output capacity of 920MW. Unit 1's operating license was granted in 1976, while Unit 2's operating license was granted in 1974. The plant is owned and operated by Duke Energy Progress, LLC.
