Camp Ripley, Minnesota

Camp Ripley is the largest military base in Minnesota, a state with a low military profile, and no active federal armed service (Air Force, Navy, Marine, or Army) bases. Camp Ripley is operated by the Minnesota National Guard, and is used for military and civilian training. The main base has an airfield, and temporary housing for a few thousand people, as well as military vehicle storage and maintenance, a driving course, and the Minnesota Military Museum. Forward areas at the 53,000 acre base have a few mock villages, firing ranges, parachute drop zones, mock POW compounds, tank training areas, and other ground forces training ranges.
