Cannon Range, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri

This impact range is located within the 63,000 acres of Fort Leonard Wood, in the Ozarks of southern Missouri. The range is more linear than most, with targets set up along a 1.5 mile long line running from south to north. Numerous vehicles, including helicopters, trucks, and tanks, and tactical structural targets made out of shipping containers are set up on either side of this line, and are bombed and strafed mostly by aircraft from Whiteman Air Force Base, a bomber base nearby. The range is in the southern part of Fort Leonard Wood, one of the Army’s largest and most diversified training bases.
