Canon Mountain and the New England Ski Museum, New Hampshire
Cannon Mountain is the seventh largest ski resort in New England, and the site of the first passenger aerial tramway in the USA. It opened in 1938, and took skiers close to the summit, a steep vertical rise of nearly half a mile, in just two miles of travel. It was replaced by a new and bigger tramway in 1980, which continues to operate today. The New England Ski Museum is located at the base of the mountain, and has been “Preserving the Future of Skiing’s Past” since 1982.
