Cascade Falls, Michigan

These artificial waterfalls are in a county park, and are illuminated in a colorful display during evenings in the summer. They opened in 1932, the vision of a wealthy local mayor, William Sparks, who was said to be inspired by a fountain he saw in Barcelona. The Cascades have 16 falls, six fountains, and the water course is 60 feet wide, and 500 feet long. The water is recirculated through the system.
