Center of the Northwest Hemisphere, Wisconsin

The Center of the Northwest Hemisphere is that point, 45°N 90°W, exactly halfway between the Equator and the North Pole, and one quarter of the way around the Earth westerly from the Prime Meridian, at Greenwich, England. Of the three remaining quarter-hemispheric centers, only the center of the Northeast Hemisphere ends up on land–in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of northwest China– the SW and SE Hemispheric Centers, are located off the Pacific coast of South America and in the middle of the Indian Ocean, respectively. Center of the Northwest Hemisphere is located in central Wisconsin, and is marked with a plaque.
