Light aircraft manufacturer Cessna has built more aircraft than any other company, and more than half of the general aircraft currently flying in the world are Cessnas. The company’s main plant and headquarters is located on the southeast corner of the main airport at Wichita. In 1992, Textron Inc., purchased Cessna from the General Dynamics Corporation for $600 million, and the complex is called Textron Aviation West Campus. Textron also owns Beechcraft, which has a manufacturing site east of Wichita. The northwest corner of the airport is a Leer Jet, facility. Wichita remains a major region for civil aviation.
