China Lake Naval Weapons Center, South, California

China Lake Naval Weapons Station is the Navy’s main weapons test center, and is among the largest and most diversified military sites in the nation. It is divided into two distinct geographic areas, north and south. The north part has the main base, where thousands of people go to work daily in laboratories and test ranges. In the southern portion of the reservation are ranges that support training and weapons proving including the Superior Valley Range, covering more than 35 square miles with more than 60 diverse scorable targets including surface to air missiles, air to air missiles, and convoys.
