Chrysler Sterling Heights Assembly Plant, Michigan

This factory opened as a missile plant in 1953, and has opened and closed and been sold to others over the years. It was even a VW plant for a few years in the 1980s, one of the few the company has had in the USA. Chrylser had it again later in the 1980s, and made Stratuses, Sebrings, but then sold the assembly line to a Russian company (that continued to make these discontinued cars in Novgarod). The plant then made the Chrysler 200, which was discontinued in 2017. After that the plant was retooled for $1.5 billion to make Ram 1500 pickup trucks, starting in 2019. It is one of five remaining assembly plants in the USA operated by Chrysler (now Fiat Chrysler).
