Coyote Power Station, North Dakota
Image
A coal-fired power plant, fed by adjacent strip mines. Located a few miles south of the Antelope Power Plant, north of Beulah, which is also fed by coal mines next to it. There are several major power plants fed by adjacent coal strip mines in this area, northwest of Bismarck, and south of lake Sakakawea, including the largest plant in the state. The Coyote Power Station opened in 1981, and generates around 432 megawatts. Though these plants are in an unpopulated area, they provide power for the Dakotas, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and Minnesota.
