Dighton Data Vault, Massachusetts
The old launch site for a Nike missile was developed into a data storage vault, owned for some time by Iron Mountain, the nation’s largest records storage company, based in Boston. The site seems to no longer be in use. Located at the end of Data Vault Road, near Swansea. The rest of the Nike complex is located a mile or so west, and is now a public sports complex. In use as a missile site from 1956-1959, this was one of seven Nike sites protecting the Providence, Rhode Island region. Another 12 Nike missile sites protected the Boston region, and hundreds more protected dozens of other American cities, into the 1960s.
