Duane Arnold Nuclear Plant, Iowa

The Duane Arnold Nuclear Plant (also known as the Duane Arnold Energy Center), is located in Palo, Iowa, adjacent to the Cedar River, from which it draws its cooling water. It is the only operational nuclear power plant in the state of Iowa. The plant is home to a single boiling water reactor, with an output capacity of 615MW. The plant's operating license was issued in 1974. Majority owner NextEra Energy Resources, LLC is also the plant's operator. Two mechanical draft cooling towers are also to be found on site.
