The Evergreen Air and Space Museum is a large display facility, established by the owner of Evergreen International Aviation, a major aviation freight company (notorious for its work for the CIA), which was headquartered across the highway at McMinnville Airport, until the company folded in 2014. The museum opened in 1991, and features Howard Hughes’ famous wooden flying boat the Spruce Goose, which was bought by the museum and moved by barge from Long Beach, California. The museum has grown into one of the largest air and space museums in the nation, and is now a Smithsonian affiliate.
