Figure 2 Ranch, Texas
The Figure 2 Ranch is a famous West Texas ranch established by James Monroe Daugherty, known as the site of one of the last battles between the Texas Rangers and the Apache Indians. It was later purchased by James Marion West, the flamboyant Texas oil man from the famous oil family based in Dallas. The Wests sold it in 1992, and it is now the West Texas home of Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, and often listed as the wealthiest person in the country. He owns around 400,000 acres of ranchland in Hudspeth and Culberson Counties. Across the highway is his Blue Origins rocket test area.
