Ford Dearborn Development Center, Michigan

The Dearborn Development Center is located near Ford’s Headquarters, and includes the test track and outdoor facilities known as the Dearborn Proving Ground. It was built on the site of the Ford Airport, and was significantly redeveloped in 2006. It has a 43-acre vehicle dynamics area, a 12-acre wet pad, a 2.5-mile steering and handling course, a 4,000-foot straightway, and a “world road” course with a variety of road and off road surfaces. Next to are other Ford R&D buildings, like the Safety Innovation Center.
