Home to the National Training Center, one of the Army's largest and busiest training facilities, where troops live and train in authentic battlefield-like conditions. Tanks, personnel carriers, and helicopters are used in full-scale simulated battles, where the home force is drawn from the base's own Blackhorse Regiment who act as the enemy, recreating everything from elements of a Soviet motorized rifle division to Afghani insurgents, depending on whom the U.S. government perceives as the current enemy. The thousand square-mile range is wired for electronic battle simulations using lasers instead of live munitions.
