Fort Richardson, Alaska

Richardson is the principal base for Army activities in Alaska (which include Fort Greely and Fort Wainwright, and millions of acres of testing and training land). Fort Richardson was combined with Elmendorf Air Force Base, located next to it, in 2005 to become Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. With around 13,000 people, this is the largest military base in the state, in population. It is located on the north end of Anchorage.
