GM Spring Hill Assembly Plant, Tennessee

Spring Hill is one of GMs largest plants, which opened in 1990 to produce the Saturn. In 2007 the plant was idled, and was eventually retooled for flexibility, and to make Ions and Vues, before being idled again in 2009. It reopened in 2012 to make the Equinox, and now makes a variety of models. Like many other assembly plants, it has a metal stamping plant and other associated plants next to it that support and supply the assembly plant, and significantly increase the industrial footprint of the site. It is one of less than a dozen vehicle assembly plants operated by GM in the USA. Another dozen or so have been shuttered over the years.
