Google Lenoir Data Center, North Carolina

One of six of the initial major dedicated data centers built across the USA by Google, this one is in Lenoir, North Carolina, an old furniture making town on the edge of the Blue Ridge Mountains. There are two separate buildings, one of which, along Overlook Drive, is much larger than the first, and has more than doubled in size since it was constructed around 2010. Lenoir is near the engineering center for Corning Cable Systems, in Hickory, which makes fiber optic cable.
