Grain Elevator Home, Montana
A classic old grain elevator from 1914 converted into a home. It took more than seven years, with the work being done by its owners and occupants. This type of grain silo, made of wood and around 70 feet tall, was once common throughout the farmlands of the west, with an estimated 27,000 in existence in the 1930s. Most have been abandoned and allowed to fall down. This silo is located 15 mile form Bozeman, in Anceney, a town that never materialized. It’s founder however, Charles Anceney, amassed a large ranch that was later bought by Ted Turner.
